Uncle Neil, Uncle Neil!!!!

It was so wonderful to see my brother, Neil, yesterday. He flew into Orange County to visit his friend Alain so I convinced him to meet me part way in San Diego. We went to the Padres vs. Pirates game and the boys got free pennants. Afterwards, we went to the mall downtown and Uncle Neil bought his way into the boys hearts - taking them to a toy store and letting them pick any toy they wanted! Wow, Uncle Neil, you're so cool!!!! We can't wait to see Uncle Neil again!

Our garden

Our garden is thriving! I thought all the plants were going to die, but instead, they've been blooming and bearing fruit - it's so exciting!!! I took pictures of the strawberries on Wednesday and they were green and yesterday they were red! I'll soon be transplanting my herb seedlings to the herb pot. Wish me luck!

T-ball season has begun!

Drew and Trent had their first t-ball games on the season today. What a day! For Drew, this is his first time playing. He's on a team of 3 & 4 year-olds called the Blacksheep and Trent is on a team of 5 & 6 year-olds called The Tribe. Little kids playing t-ball is always a hoot! Today, there was a kid on the opposing team that cought the ball and we were the ones in the outfield and I saw some teammates trip over each other as they both fought for the ball. Due to the hot weather conditions in Yuma, we have an accelerated season that will end at the end of May with games on Saturdays and many Wednesdays/Thursdays. Between two kids on different teams that means 2-4 games a week plus 2 practices a week. I'm looking forward to June already!

Camel Farm in Yuma!

Who knew Yuma had a Camel Farm? It was pretty cool for only $3 a person and about a 10 minute drive. There were camels, llamas, an ostrich (it was HUGE!), a zebra, a zedonk, sheep, rabbits, rams, and more! Who needs lions and tigers when you've got zedonks, right?!

And, just to keep things interesting in the Walker household, Trent's lip swelled up as we got to the camel farm. On the way over, he was saying his lip hurt, so I tossed him some chapstick. He constantly has chapped lips. When we were getting out of the car, he said his lip still hurt and I could see it was quite swollen....just like it does when he has shrimp (of which he's allergic). Except he hadn't had anything to eat for a few hours. Thankfully, Christina, who rode with us to the camel farm, remembered that Trent had been playing with a balloon in the back seat, something from a birthday party at school a few days ago, and wondered if it was a latex allergy. And then, I remembered that after Trent's last dentist appointment he had a slight red rash on his face and the dentist asked if he was allergic to latex. At the time, I didn't think much of it because you'd think we'd have run into this with his numerous doctor visits and open-heart surgeries.....but things can change. So, I'm taking him to his doctor on Thursday to have him tested.

My Mom

It was so nice having my mom here for the past week and I'm so glad that the boys were able to spend some time with Grandma Addie. It's hard being so far away from our family all the time. I just loved hearing my boys say, "Grandma!" and not just because it meant they weren't saying, "MOM!!!" While she was here, we went to beach, planted a garden in the backyard, she played play-dough and hide and seek with the boys, she read the boys stories....it was just so nice to have her with us. We miss her already! We love you mom/grandma Addie!

Happy Easter

We had such a wonderful Easter yesterday. The Easter Bunny hid eggs in our backyard and the boys enjoyed finding them in all their terrific hiding places. Then we packed up and headed to San Diego and played on the beach at Coronado. Rob and the boys dug a HUGE hole and had a blast. For dinner, we went to a Japanese Steakhouse (no, it's not some crazy Easter tradition, but it sure was YUMMY!) and the boys had fun feeding the fish in the lobby. Most of all it, it was nice to have my mom spend Easter with us.
